Bedtime

My 18 month old has quite the bedtime ritual. For example, this night was especially special:
7:30: Upstairs get in jammies. (Make sure the one piece jammies are buttoned at the top but unzipped all the way down so he can reach his belly button, which he holds on to all night long).
7:35: Read books, "one more" about five times.
7:45: Get in bed, stand up, preferably on head about ten times.
8:00: Decide to start pretending to be a train. "sssshhhhh ssssshhhh chew chew" is basically how it sounds, while arms go wild in circles.
8:05: Let mommy pat the bottom for about one minute, until it is time to stand up and do a little jig for about five minutes.
8:05 Decide water, or juice, is necessary.
8:15 Continue to drink water and pretend to be a train.
8:20 Mommy officially wins and pats baby to sleep.
8:25 Mommy decides she has the cutest little guy on the face of this earth.

Good News: Halloween has been saved!

The shoes that saved Halloween

Addison has emphatically decided that she wants to be Belle for Halloween. Luckily, Grandma Gayle found a beautiful Belle costume, crown and all. As she had the costume on and was showing it off, she suddenly realized that she didn't have Belle shoes to go with the Belle costume. Apparently, this is the biggest dilemma of my three-year-old's entire life. On the way home (costume on) she tells me that her entire Halloween will just be "ruined" if she doesn't have the shoes to go along with it. Thus began the quest for acquiring the perfect shoes (without spending the $20 at the Disney store for them). We tried convincing her that sparkly pink ones would be perfect, but she insisted that pink shoes were for Sleeping Beauty. Thankfully, at Target today, we found shoes in a princess box that were sparkly pink, but because Belle was on the box, I was able to convince my little diva that they were for Belle too.
Thankfully, her Halloween will no longer be ruined.

An Award!

My friend Somer awarded me with a blog award! Little ole' me who has put blogging in the back recesses of my mind for far too long. My blog isn't nearly as cute as all the ones I read, nor are my stories as exciting. Oh well, I do enjoy writing and sharing about my day and kids. I do want to remember all those little moments, the ones where people say, "oh you should really write that one down!" So I am. Somer's blog is fun to read, it is just neat to read about my friend's day to day lives and their children. Somer's blog is thejoysofbeingamother.blogspot.com

Here's how the award works:
1. Thank the person who gave you the award and link to their blog.
2. Share 10 honest things about yourself.
3. Present this award to 7 other whose blogs you find brilliant in design or content.
4. Tell those 7 people they have been awarded.
Here is 10 things about myself:

1.) I love being a mom but am not a big fan of being pregnant (although I am incredibly thankful for the blessing of being able to have children).
2.) I love the city and would love to live in a big city again.
3.) I spent about three months in Mexico City and loved every second of it. I would love to go back one day.
4.) I love to write and read more than any other leisure activity.
5.) I became a Christian originally when I was 11 because I found out you could have a second birthday. Who wouldn't
want two birthdays?
6.) When I was little, my brother and I attempted to "save the forest." The woods behind our home was being torn down to build a subdivision. We got up super early in the morning and removed every single post the surveyors had set up the entire week before.
7.) I love history and historical places. I try and stop at every new historical marker I see.
8.) If I could go to the art museum everyday, I would. Especially, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.
9.) I really like watching tv, probably too much.
10.) Currently, I am craving lemony things and chicken fingers, as I have with all my pregnancies.

Blogs that I totally love:
1.)nieniedialogues.blogspot.com
2.) cjaneenjoyit.blogspot.com
3.) trustunfailinglove.blogspot.com
4.) thejoysofbeingamother.blogspot.com
5.) mycharmingkids.blogspot.com

I know I am supposed to have seven, but honestly these are the only ones I can keep up with these days!
Thanks Somer!!!

Another baby!

For the last four weeks, Addison has been talking about the sister inside my tummy. She has been begging for a sister, certain that her little life will be complete if she too could have a new baby sister. Andy and I have been having the discussion whether or not we wanted to have another one, we are really happy with our two. Two weeks into Addison talking about the baby in my tummy, we found out that she was right, there is a baby in there! Part of me wonders if God told her first, because she started talking about right when I would had gotten pregnant. Strange.
During one of our many conversations, we were talking about the possibility that Jesus might actually give us a boy. She responded, "oh no mommy, Jesus wouldn't do that to me."
Even though this baby is super unexpected, we are excited and really warming up to the idea of having a third. Luckily, we have nine months to get ready!
