"Crap"

She did it. She finally repeated a word that I in no way want my two-year old saying.
We were getting ready to leave and Andy couldn't find something. So our sweet, polite little Addison said, "oh crap."
We told her it wasn't a nice word to say and to please not say that again.
Today, her and I were upstairs and I heard her whisper, "oh crap." Again, I reminded her that was a naughty word. To which she responded, "I know mommy. That's why I whispered it."

Big Trip: Day One

We weren't even five miles from home and the kids had already eaten two pop tarts, a bunch of grapes, and half of a block of cheese. I learned a very important lesson: never, ever under any circumstance, ever give Henry a pop tart in the car. The child was covered in the sticky goo they call "strawberry." Literally, we had to stop so I could take him in a bathroom to wash his hands, feet (yes feet) and face. Oh my, this is going to be a long road trip!
We are on our way to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where we will spend a luxuries seven days on the beach with Andy's entire family. Tonight, however is not so luxuries. We are at La Quinta hotel right outside of Toledo, Ohio. Might I add, no pool. We only drove five hours today, which was very uneventful. I started a new book, Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. I also was on snack patrol, movie controller, and toy distributor. While Andy was the official navigator and driver extraordinaire. The kids were really content.
Tomorrow, it is on to Washington DC for two nights. I am really excited to see the nation's capitol, I've never been there before!

Potty

Mommy: "Addison, what are you doing?"

Addison: "I'm going pee-pee on the potty. Jesus told me to."

Thank You, Jesus.

Funny Little Girl

Addison has gotten so big in the last few weeks. Not only has she grown physically but in her speech and behavior as well. With that has come extra sassiness and more witty comments. She cracks us up on a regular basis. Today in the car, Andy was joking with her about something and she replied, "oh come on, daddy."
Earlier this week, Henry changed the channel on the t.v. for the millionth time. Under her breath she said, "for crying out loud, Henry."
Also, she has been refusing to go number two on the potty. She has been holding it until we put a diaper on her for nap time or bed time. We have been trying to bribe her with a trip to the ice cream store if she does go. After another "accident" I asked her why she keeps going in her diaper. With that she replied, "I guess we don't get to go get ice cream. Too bad, daddy really wanted to go get ice cream." I'm happy to report after a week, we went and got ice cream tonight.
I suppose I could go on and on with funny things my girl says, but I've got to stop before I turn into one of those moms!

Walking Machine

Yup, it is true, Henry is an official walker. The look of triumph on his little face as he walks around is priceless. I'm not sure who is more proud, mommy and daddy, Addison, or Henry.
Wow, we have arrived to the world of two toddlers. Oh boy, let the fun begin!

Just Share

I am always overwhelmed with gratitude after a big grocery shopping trip. It amazes me how God has given us so much delicious food. Saturday afternoon, I was washing fresh blueberries and strawberries. We just bought them at Costco, so I had about ten million pounds of each. As I was washing them, Addison kept coming back with her little bowl for more blueberries. She would then promptly go and sit in her chair to eat her treat. Henry discovered what she was doing and came over to share in the treasure. Much to his annoyance, and mine as well, she refused to share. "But Addison," I said. "I have tons of blueberries! I will give you as many as you want. Just give your brother one!" She refused. She wanted them for herself. "Okay, sister, if you don't share the ones you have, I'm not going to give you anymore. If you do share, then I will give you more." But she still wouldn't share.
That is when the Lord stepped in.
Are not your things like her blueberries? I have tons of blueberries, if you will just share with your brothers and sisters, then I will give you more. If you don't, then I won't put more in your bowl.
It is amazing how much like a two year old I can be. Just share, the Lord sighs, just share.

Happy Memorial Day!

We went up to Uncle "G Bays" and Aunt Pattie's house for Memorial Day. We always love going to visit, they definitely have the gift of hospitality. Now that the girls are getting older, it is a lot of fun watching them play together. In the morning we went to the parade. It was Addison and Henry's first parade. I've never been a parade person, and could never understand why people actually went to them. However, after watching Addison and Henry's excitement, I  am now a parade lover.  At least, until they realize how boring parades actually are. After, we went to Savers (my favorite re-sale shop ever!). Who doesn't love getting a barely used book for $.50?! Then we went to a park for a picnic and some good play. It was a quick trip, but tons of fun. Thanks BJ, Pattie, Jonathon, Mia, and Olivia! We love you guys!

She clapped and bounced the entire parade.

How cute is this? Jonathon and Addison carrying the chair back to the car.
